Who doesn’t love a sweet and savory duo! We got inventive and used berries to Dress Up a nice cut of halibut.
This white fish knocked us off of our feet. Really! Halibut is a beautifully mild and buttery-flavored fish, and this preparation couldn’t be easier or more stunning.
But there is no question about it, the star of this recipe is the Blackberry compote. Mixing the Blackberry Vinaigrette with fresh blueberries and blackberries created a rich blend of sweetness and tang.
Paired with the savory, buttery pan-fried halibut is the duo you didn’t know you need but is truly out of this world!
Seasonings of choice
In a saucepan, add all your berries, coconut sugar and blackberry vinaigrette
Decide whether you want to mash the berries for a thinner compote or opt for a thicker compote.
Cook until your desired consistency
Clean the fish, pat dry and season however you choose
In another sauce pan, drizzle oil and bring to high heat; add fish to pan
Cook for 3-4 minutes until a crust forms. Flip the fish over, reduce the heat to medium, add the butter and continue cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Use the oil/butter to wash over the fish as you cook; once cooked to your liking, remove from pan
Get creative with your blackberry compote as you prepare to plate the halibut! You can use it as a base or plate it on the side.
Add the halibut and top with more compote if you choose
Serve and enjoy!
